Employment
Preparation: A set of services to prepare
an individual for the competitive or sheltered world of work.
These services include vocational training in basic job skills
(attendance, work ethic, etc.) resume preparation, job matching,
job coaching and whatever else may be needed to assist the
person in making a successful transition to employment.
Again, the professional rehabilitation agent can look to this
program for options available to the client/claimant in terms
of training or retraining for gainful employment. These
services are also available to private and third party payers
or life plan recipients.
INCOR
primarily utilizes a curriculum which emphasizes basic employability
skills, an exploration of interests and the McCarron-Dial
vocational profile to save time and expenses. Once set
on a course the individual is introduced to the Job
Coach for job exploration, employment and
support on-the-job.
The Job Coach works
with the individual and tailors all jobs developed to the
abilities needs and interests of the consumer/client.
The first step in assessing the
needs of any individual served is identification of likes,
interests and strengths. The McCarron-Dial system is
a battery of neurometric and behavioral measures which has
been substantiated by extensive research. The system
measures five neuropsychological factors as predictors of
vocational competency. We then derive a profile and
identify and prioritize specific program goals. Once
goals are established the team develops a plan to address
the vocational needs of any individual at any level of functioning.
Community
inclusion is a priority in any vocational
plan. The INCOR
employment services team uses a variety of approaches to accomplish
this end ranging from Structured Day Program - introducing
the individual to the community, Real Work experiences in
the Outsourcing Operation, Mobile Plant Crews, Enclaves in
Industrial Settings and Independent Employment in the community.
Individuals who need one-on-one supervision and assistance
have trained job coaches to assist them in every aspect of
the community/employment experiences.
When a job with a community employer
is the individuals choice, Employment
Services develops a job based upon the client/claimant's
expressed area of interest, matching client and job as closely
as possible. When the job is secured the Job Coach works
with the individual on the job site, training him or her to
do the job and become as independent as possible. As this
independence begins to develop, the Job Coach will gradually
fade until the client is self-sufficient at the job.
