Raymond
Nelson Nominated for Supported Worker Award
Raymond Nelson has been nominated by Colleen
O’Reilly, Vocational P.C., for the 2007 Oklahoma Association
for Persons in Supported Employment (OKAPSE) Supported Worker
Award.
Raymond has been employed by Albertson’s in Muskogee,
OK, for almost 10 months, starting as a Customer Service Representative.
He was excited by this opportunity to make a new beginning
and incorporate more change into his life.
Raymond had been working in the fast food industry for several
years and had been wanting the chance to work in the grocery
business instead. Af-ter being hired at Albertson’s
he worked for about four months with a job coach. Then with
the help of the program he as was able to transition into
a stable and reliable employee.
Now Raymond has been able to build great relationships and
natural sup-ports at the store. The management “really
thinks the world of Raymond,” states Colleen in her
nomination letter. “He has received two raises and they
have added new responsibilities to his job description. He
is now ordering the store’s ‘front supplies.’”
Raymond’s success at Albertson’s is an excellent
example of how a con-sumer’s placement in the right
job with the right people allows them to grow and gain confidence
in themselves. This helps an individual be a suc-cess not
only personally but also for his or her employer.
“We are proud of Raymond,” Colleen writes, “and
want to encourage him to continue the inner growth and confidence
he has gained at Albertson’s. INCOR will keep giving
him the support he needs to keep growing.”
Congratulations, Raymond Nelson, on your nomination for this
award!
